Welcome to Skye Yachts and yacht charter in Scotland

Welcome to the Isle of Skye Yachts website. If this is your first visit to the site, we are delighted to introduce you to our wonderful cruising area and attractive fleet of modern yachts. If you have sailed with us before you will already know the attractions of sailing on well equipped yachts in the beautiful waters of Skye with spectacular scenery all round. For those of you not familiar with the Company, Isle of Skye Yachts offer Bareboat and Skippered Yacht Charter and RYA Courses as well as a range of support services to visiting yachts and Corporate Charters. The Company have an excellent reputation built up over a number of years and have won several awards, including the 2008 Highlands and Islands Tourism Award for Services to Tourism.

Most charters run on a weekly basis commencing on Friday or Saturday (see price list for details), but other days can be arranged, particularly at short notice. There are often Special Offers available for Mid and Low season dates or for bookings at short notice.

Most people visiting for the first time for a one week holiday would plan a circumnavigation of Skye if the weather is appropriate. The fact that you can sail around the island limits the need to set off in one direction and then have to return the same way. There are endless destinations to choose from in the Inner and Outer Hebrides, Small Isles, Skye itself and the remote and dramatic North West Mainland of Scotland.

As well as a selection of classic remote anchorages, if your preference is to dine out on Gourmet food, there are a number of wonderful restaurants and pubs to choose from. The location of some of these establishments has to be experienced to be believed!

Wherever you cruise in the area there is interesting marine life to be seen. Puffins, seals, dolphins, whales, basking sharks, porpoises, otters and many, many sea birds are regularly observed and photographed by customers. If you would like to spend time ashore then there are plenty of hill walking opportunities and a number of castles and other places of interest to visit during your sail in the area. For the family parties and those who long to walk barefoot in the sand there are also beautiful and remote beaches to visit.

Whether you are chartering a yacht or on an RYA Course you will be concerned about navigating in the area. This is quite straightforward with only a very few tidal gates which can determine your time of departure/arrival. Should the weather prove to be inclement then there is always the option of staying in the Inner Sound where there is an excellent selection of anchorages and moorings to visit.

The company is based at Armadale/Ardvasar on the Isle of Skye. When you arrive to board your yacht for your holiday it will be on one of our moorings in Armadale Bay. The Company has a boatyard, workshop and office facilities at Ardvasar about ½ mile away – this is where most of the yachts live during the winter.

There has been a yacht charter company at Armadale for 25 years. It is now a Limited Company run by hands on Directors Mark and Charmian Entwistle and a dedicated staff team. As experienced sailors themselves they do everything possible to ensure that your charter or course will run smoothly from start to finish. Their attention to detail is excellent and there is an broad range of services available to customers. Whatever your requirements just ask for more information and they will help you if at all possible. The company belongs to the Association of Scottish Yacht Charterers (ASYC) and the British Marine Federation (BMF). Isle of Skye Yachts has also won a selection of Tourism Awards in recent years.
