For 2010 we are delighted to be able to add this exciting new option to the possible itineraries available on the Destinations page of this website. In conjunction with the brand new Inverness Marina we are now able to offer you the option of starting or ending your charter in Inverness. Dates for this are variable and will depend on demand but will usually be based on either collecting the yacht from Skye on a Friday and delivering it to Inverness 13 or 20 days later. Charters from Inverness would begin on a Saturday with the yacht being returned to our base on Skye on a Friday.
The option of having a one way trip around the top of Scotland offers you the opportunity to experience some of the most remote anchorages in the UK on the North West tip of Scotland and then visit Orkney (and with enough time Shetland) without having to rush back to Skye. If time permits, there is also the chance to explore the new marinas on the Moray Firth Coast. The options for this cruise are endless but a suggested itinerary for a 13 day trip starting from Skye might run something like this:-
| Day 1. | Pick up boat at Armadale, Isle of Skye. After boarding and briefing leave Armadale around 17.00 and head to Isle Ornsay |
| Day 2. | Isle Ornsay – catch tide through Kylerhea – head up to Gairloch. |
| Day 3. | Gairloch round Rudha Rhea to pontoons at Lochinver |
| Day 4. | Lochinver to Loch Laxford |
| Day 5. | Loch Laxford round Cape Wrath to Loch Erribol |
| Day 6. | Loch Erribol to Stromness, Orkney |
| Days 7,8,9 | Cruising in Scapa Flow, perhaps with a bus or taxi trip ashore to visit some of the many historical sites in the Orkney islands. If you have more time then you can go on to Shetland or just visit some more of islands in the area. |
| Day 10. | Longhope, Scapa Flow to Wick Marina – making sure you have the tides exactly right in the Pentland Firth |
| Day 11. | Wick to Helmsdale |
| Day 12. | Helmsdale to Inner Moray Firth – perhaps Fortrose |
| Day 13. | Arrive Inverness Marina on the tide and tidy up yacht ready for disembarcation by 10.30 the next morning |
There are many other options and you will probably enjoy planning your own itinerary but this will give you a taste of what might be available.
