The Sun Odyssey 36i was an exciting new addition to the Isle of Skye
Yachts fleet for 2009 and is a high-performance cruising yacht built for
comfort and designed for those looking for a relaxed way of getting away
from it all. “Janet Macarthur” has a high performance hull designed by
Marc Lombard, a powerful but easily handled sail plan, “teak” decks and
a generous cockpit with deep storage lockers.
Above deck you will find all the sail controls lead back to the cockpit for easy and safe handling. The 3/4 battened mainsail with lazy jacks and sail catcher, is quick and easy to stow. Roller furling Genoa and storm jib complete the sail wardrobe. Anchoring is made is easy with reversible electric windlass. There is easy access aboard from the dinghy through the double stepped transom gate. The leather covered wheel is sensibly sized and very easy to use.
All the Raymarine deck repeater instruments are conveniently situated on the consol in front of the helmsperson. The Chart plotter is also situated here. There is also a fully integrated Auto pilot. The deep and spacious cockpit has a folding table for al fresco dining and there is a cockpit shower should you require it.
Down below there is plenty of space and natural light with many ports and hatches and generous storage. There are 8 berths in 3 cabins plus the saloon; 4 berths aft in 2 double aft cabins, a double berth conversion in the saloon plus a double cabin forward. The heads are conveniently sited at the foot of companionway on the port side. There is a shower and warm water is available after about 30 minutes under engine.
The yacht is powered by a Yanmar 3YM30 (29HP) engine which will carry you along speedily should the wind not prevail. The navigation area features a sliding chart table which allows the navigator to use it in comfort while sailing and gives extra space when the crew are gathered down below. Full modern electronic instrumentation is provided including DSC VHF and Navtex.
Down below you will appreciate the space, natural lighting and comfortable atmosphere of her generous accommodation. Thoughtful design and high quality materials make the saloon a very relaxing area. The L shaped galley is fully equipped for 8 people, Central heating and a radio/CD player will also add to your comfort down below. As with all our other boats, the Jeanneau SO 36i has full safety equipment to MCA Category 2 charter standards.
“Janet Macarthur” is a delightful and attractive boat whose sailing performance and comfortable accommodation will appeal to all. Larger groups may wish to consider chartering this yacht along with our Legend 36, “Lady Naomi” as a “matched pair” for exciting and comfortable cruising in company.
